Restaurang Prinsen Stockholm, Sweden

My good friends Agneta and Mikael took me to Restaurnag Prinsen. Which services traditional Swedish food. It is located in my favorite part of Stockholm the heart of the city. Doing a little research I learned the interior has the classic fin-de-siecle feel a characteristic of the end of the 19th century. Stockholms elite have been coming here since 1897. One of them was Dan Anersson a poet (1888-1920). Dan was from the Dalarna area of Sweden in a village that lies in the "Finn Woods." He is a descendent of Forest Finns, who immigrated to Sweden in the 16th century and cultivate new lands through slash and burn agriculture. At 14 he had traveled to the states and wrote a poem about Huck Finn. We returned to Sweden where he lived until the age of 32. He was found died at Hotel Hellman in Stockholm from hydrogen cyanide which the hotel staff used to kill bedbugs. Very interesting guy but what a way to go.

Till Karleken (To Love)

Dan Anderssen / nom de plume Black Jim

T’is said that a prophet who speaks with all faith; whose voice sounds afar like a cymbal, a bell, yet knows naught of love nor its mystery, will speak as all fools do — as well. For prophecies, psalms will all fade away as a fleck, as a smoke when our doomsday is come, But all that is flowing with love will endure to be one with God and live on. With love there is beauty in thistles that sting. And May rain sprinkles the thirstening land, while a rose has fragrance, a meadow grows green deep in burning wilderness sand.
